I can relate to your experience with the naysayer instructor. When I published my book on how to practice ballroom dance on your own, I thought it would be a natural thing to partner with dance studios because from my perspective, the book was the perfect compliment to the lessons and classes. Studio owners saw it as competition, worried it would inspire their students to take fewer classes instead of seeing the potential for more growth in their students. I have yet to meet a dancer who bought my book and started taking fewer lessons! Instead they enjoy their lessons more because their solo practice at home helps them get more out of their time with the teacher. Happy to read that you didn't let the naysayers hold you back!!
